Thaipat Institute becomes the GRI Training Partner in Thailand

Bangkok, 22 March 2013, Thaipat Institute has entered into an agreement with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to deliver and promote GRI Certified Training Programs in Thailand. The agreement will also let Thaipat Institute to provide certified training activities in Indonesia and Malaysia.

The GRI Certified Training Program was launched in 2007. The program helps participants to understand and coordinate the GRI sustainability reporting process. It is suitable for all organizations that want to learn more about GRI and sustainability reporting.

Sustainability reporting can be considered as synonymous with other terms for non-financial reporting; triple bottom line reporting, corporate social responsibility (CSR) reporting, and more. It is also an intrinsic element of integrated reporting; a recent development that combines the analysis of financial and non-financial performance.

An increasing number of companies and organizations want to make their operations sustainable. Establishing a sustainability reporting process helps them to set goals, measure performance, and manage change.

“Sustainability report is an organizational report that gives information about economic, environmental, social and governance performance, and becomes the key platform for communicating positive and negative sustainability impacts,” said Pipat Yodprudtikan, Director of Thaipat Institute.

“To produce a regular sustainability report, organizations set up a reporting cycle – a program of data collection, communication, and responses. This means that their sustainability performance is monitored on an ongoing basis. Data can be provided regularly to senior decision makers to shape company strategy and policy, and improve performance. Sustainability reporting is therefore a vital step for managing change towards a sustainable global economy,” he added.

As the GRI Training Partner, Thaipat will now be able to provide certified training course with training material approved by GRI. The course explains the GRI sustainability reporting process that enables participants to produce first GRI report or transform an existing CSR report into the GRI format.

The course will deliver knowledge on sustainability context & drivers of reporting organization, major potential benefits and challenges of reporting process, links between organizational activities and their economic, social, and environmental impacts, how to identify and prioritize stakeholders for engagement process, and tool to select relevant topics and material indicators to report on. Participants will also receive a certificate directly from GRI after completing the course and feedback questionnaire.
